Most states now have some form of medical cannabis legislation, but many medical professionals are still wondering if it is effective and safe for the purported medical uses. This is further complicated by a farm bill that will make industrial production of hemp legal. The market is already flooded with hemp oil products, but are these legally on the shelf and in consumer hands? This course will address these complex issues.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE activity, participants should be able to:
1. Compare the differences between marijuana and hemp in relationship to plant characteristics and chemical composition.
2. Describe the theoretical basis for the benefits of THC, CBD and hemp oil.
3. Identify the known risks for THC and CBD given orally or topically.
4. Identify the risk associated with vaping of cannabis products.
5. Describe the legal status of THC, CBD and hemp oil.
